Images are courtesy of Colin Lawson son of Wilfred Lawson who was a forester who trained at Benmore Forester Training School 1948-1950 following a year plus at Glenbranter Forest as a trainee worker based in the camp.

The images of letters received by Wilfred chart his employment and training journey from his application to the Ministry Of Labour and National Service for a placement in a Vocational Employment Scheme in Jan 1947. No spaces were available due to high demand from returning service personnel but by 20 Feb 1947 he did get an offer of a placement at Glenbranter Forest on the Forest Worker Training Scheme. The letter gives details of location, travel, allowances and accommodation payments in the Glenbranter camp. Wilfred also received details of the Training Prospectus for Forester Training Schools in 1947 and was considering an application there. By Oct 1947 he had obviously passed the selection process for entry to the Forester Training Schools but no places were available until Oct 1948. He meantime completed his Forest Worker Training Course at Glenbranter in Feb 1948 and awarded a Certificate following which he was offered employment as a worker in Glenbranter forest. By Aug 1948 he was offered a placement as a student in Benmore Forester Training School from Oct 1948.

A number of letters received by Wilfred provide more details of the above sequence and are contained in the PDF which can be accessed via the link below this text.
