Wilfred Lawson with Euan S Grant, Forestry Consultant
Images are courtesy of Colin Lawson son of Wilfred Lawson, a forester who trained at Benmore Forester Training School 1948-1950 following a year plus at Glenbranter Forest as a trainee worker based in the camp.
The year and the location are somewhat uncertain but they view is that this photograph was taken while Wilfred was attending a short three month course held at Darnaway Estate in summer of 1948. Wilfred had been accepted for entrance to Benmore Forester Training School in Oct 1948.
Any details about location, the career of Euan Grant and the car would be very welcome.
Car registration may read as KGB 76.

A Triumph Mayflower, 35,000 of which were made between 1949 and 1953, by the Standard Motor Company and then marketed by their Triumph Motor Company subsiduary. Due to production delays the car was not available for sale until 1950. So, I'm not sure about the 1948 date attributed to the photograph?
The engine had a capacity of 1,247cc, giving "sluggish" performance and a top speed of 65mph. Back in the early 1960's I was taken for a ride in one and the leather seats, along with the wood veneer dashboard and door cappings gave the air of a "Gentleman's" vehicle. With a cost of £473.10s.7d in Vynide and £479.18s.4d in leather, including over £100 in purchase tax, this wasn't cheap! Comment left on 22 February 2025 at 20:45 by Bill Rayner
