Fearnoch Forest Map 3 – Lorne Forest District
The map was recovered from a shed at Newton which acted as a storage area for Forest Research who used the maps to locate forest and tree experiments in the field.
The two areas of forest are some distance apart. The area annotated as Compartment 2449 – 2458 is south of Loch Nell and the other, Compartment 2501 – 2511 is south of Oban. Both areas were planted in the period 1982- 1987 with mainly Sitka spruce but there are notable areas of larch as well. The map was last updated in 1991.
Any details on this forest area and its forest staff would be very welcome.
