The map was recovered from a shed at Newton Nursery which acted as a storage area for Forest Research who used the maps to locate forest and tree experiments in the field.

This Map No 5 covers the eastern high ground of part of the original Glen Duror Forest and covers the top levels of the Salachan and Duror glens running either side of the significant mountain named Fraochaidh. Again the planting was carried out in the late 1960s and early 1970s up to elevations between 350 and 400m. Sitka spruce is extensively used in these areas and the compartment numbers are still in the low 3000 sequence.
The historical forester staff names recorded for Glen Durer are: 1921 - J M Reid; 1950 - L Sinclair, D A Robertson and at Ballachulish A Campbell and K A Beaton; 1960 – L Sinclair, G W Blake, J Cramb; 1965 - L Sinclair as Head Forester, C W Hart Forester and G S Heddon Trainee Forester.

Note the extreme eastern side of the map features another glen this time named as Glen Crearan which has compartment numbering in the 1000 series. Keith miller indicated that these numbers signified the former Barcaldine Forest area. In fact Crearan was originally a forest on its own that originated in 1955 and later under the charge of forester W C Martin. It was amalgamated in 1972 with and under the name of Barcaldine Forest. The planting years in the southern portion of the forest run from the low 1950s up to the 1960s and low 1970s. There appears to be quite significant proportions of native broadleaves consisting of birch, oak ash and alder on some of sites. The earliest planting at 1956 is in the very southern corner where there is a small area of Sitka spruce labelled as P.56.
