Muirburn Garve area
The photograph was taken by the late Finlay MacRae who was a District Officer in the Forestry Commission based in Dingwall at the time. The images are courtesy of his daughter Donna.
No indication of location but muirburn title would point to private estate staff under taking some heather and vegetation burning to enhance grouse breeding prospects.
There is no indication of Forestry Commission staff here but it was not unknown for FC staff to assist if burning was close to a vulnerable plantation area.
Any points and details very welcome.

Burning of rank heather, before ploughing, was quite commonly done by Forestry Commission. Picture 5916-foreground- is, I think an example of this.

Following on from Frank's comment on "Picture 5933", the man second from right in this picture appears to have a tash very similar to that of Willie Beattie Snr? He is carrying the customary army side pack, with Thermos flask and the steepness of the ground could correspond to that of the western slopes of Ben Wyvis.
The man standing on the left of the picture, with the can of paraffin to assist in the lighting of the fire, looks very like a youthfull Billy Tulloch, Strathpeffer, who was a member of the FC establishment squad when I was at Torrachilty.
So, I think that this image was taken by Finlay, when the Garbat block was first being established, before the ploughing operations took place and the picture of Willie, with the humpy draining plough was taken.
