Development of water for sport in the forest – Davie Robertson
The photograph was taken by the late Finlay MacRae who was a District Officer in the Forestry Commission based in Dingwall at the time. The images are courtesy of his daughter Donna.
No information known other than the enigmatic title by Finlay. Davie Robertson was a Chief or Head Forester is Skye and again not sure if this is him. The location appears to be a sea loch with a sandy beach and a few remnant Scots pines above the shore and a steep profile mountain in the back ground.
Can anyone identify this location and the man?
In this time period the Forestry Commission was developing a wide ranging public recreation policy and planning the opening of and extending many picnic and walking sites, car routes thorough forests on forest roads, art projects in forests, horse riding and perhaps fishing. This latter point is not recalled but perhaps someone will confirm?
