Date Added: 30 August 2024 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1977 Picture No: 5923

The photograph was taken by the late Finlay MacRae who was a District Officer in the Forestry Commission based in Dingwall at the time. The images are courtesy of his daughter Donna.

The photograph shows Tony Hind (Conservation forester for North Scotland) and Ernie Michie (District Officer Dornoch District) overlooking the remains of Rosal village (burnt and cleared in early 1800s) in the Forestry Commission Rosal Forest in Strathnaver. A substantial area around the village was left unplanted as can be seen.
