Benmore Forestry School Students 1950

Probably about May 1950 as the students are lined up on what looks like the Rhododendron (in full flower) covered banks behind the Benmore School building. Some students from the 1948 and 1949 intake are recognised and numbers have been added to the large image to aid identification. Again Willie Cameron, Rogart, has come up with the names of almost all the students at least those that can be easily seen.

The names that Willie has supplied are:
1. Unknown
2. Tommy Archard (Isle of Mann)
3. Charlie Beatty (N Ireland)
4. Hugh Mackay
5. Hamish Reid
6. John MacLeod (Rassay)
7. Willie Cameron
8. John Doran (N Ireland)
9. Don Wood
10. Jimmy Hogg? (possibly)
11. Sandy Nicholson
12. George Barker
13. Calum Drummond
14. Ian Maclennan
15. David Laing
16. Ron Hutchinson
Willie also thinks that the two people between 14 and 15 are likely to be Sandy Nicol and then Archie Douglas.

Surprised to find this photo with my dad in it - Don Wood (9).Planning to take him to Benmore next year, it will be 60 years since he left. He was thrilled to hear of these photos and he remembers all the men in the picture and where they were all from. Comment left on 22 August 2010 at 11:15 by Helen Seglah (nee Wood)
