Strathrory part of Ardross Forest – Planting Progress
The photograph was taken by the late Finlay MacRae who was a District Officer in the Forestry Commission based in Dingwall at the time. The images are courtesy of his daughter Donna.
A view in 1984 of progress in planting of Strathrory. Note the Struie public road where it crosses a bridge over the Strathrory River. Above the public road a series of fire breaks have been created by swiping the heather very close to the ground and trying to encourage green grass growth. Two traces or breaks have been created to increase chances of a successful fire stop.
