Covering conifer seedbeds with grit in Black Isle nursery

Date Added: 12 August 2024 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1978 Picture No: 5886

The photograph was taken by the late Finlay MacRae who was a District Officer in the Forestry Commission based in Dingwall at the time. The images are courtesy of his daughter Donna.

The grit spreading operation is carried out with a new Sisis Lospread grit spreader closely watched by a second man checking on and adjusting coverage when necessary. The tractor is an unusual coloured yellow Massey Ferguson registration number JLC629K.

Can anyone identify this nursery and name the operators (See follow on Picture numbers).

The MF tractor in Plant Yellow is an Industrial or Council version of the 135. To be legal for non agricultural use it had a speedometer, twin brakes, brake lights, and a horn. Comment left on 13 August 2024 at 08:54 by Alasdair Cameron
