Forestry Students starting 2nd Year at Benmore

Photograph taken at Benmore Forester Training School in Aug 1949 showing the year group intake of 1948. (Another photograph in the archive shows Kenny Maclean and Hugh Mackay in the Glentress Football team in Jan 1950 where it is most likely they were sent on exchange course which took place in this era after the autumn session of the second year).
From left: Roy Carlaw, George Barker, Sandy Nicol, Hugh Mackay, Alastair Crawford, Wilfred Lawson and Kenny Maclean. According to the note written on the back of the photograph by Kenny Maclean the following people from the year group are not in the line-up: Tommy Hindle, Charlie Hart, George Francey, Maclean Macleod, Sandy Nicholson.
The first names were supplied by Willie Cameron, Rogart, who was in the following year group to that of Kenny Maclean ie 1949 to 1951. He added that George Barker from the Glasgow area served as a forester at Oykel Forest, Sandy Nicol came from Singer factory near Glasgow, Wilf Lawson served at Glenloy Forest but died at a very early age from cancer, Tommy Hindle was from Manchester area, Sandy Nicholson originally from Raasay on hearing that he was being posted to Borgie after finishing Forestry School opted to go to Kenya, Ron Hutcheson and John Doran were from Ireland.
