Don goes on to say ‘Mother is snow clearing on Glaick Road at Mid-Ardross. It shows the amount of snow we used to get at Ardross which was of course well above ‘the snow line’. Many times we were off from secondary school at Invergordon in the winter with roads impassable for days on end ! After one very bad snow fall, myself along with two road squad men walked 5 miles through horrendous snow drifts to locate and dig out a BTD6 Bulldozer which we eventually got started and the 3 of us spent next two weeks clearing snow and opening roads all around Ardross, Alness, Evanton, Dingwall, etc., so bad were the conditions. Nobody questioned a sixteen old boy operating the bulldozer as everybody was so grateful to see roads being opened!’
