List of plantations on Kilcoy Estate, Black Isle in 1919
The image is courtesy of Alasdair Cameron, Ross-shire who scanned some documents relating to Kilcoy Estate, rescued from the skip.
The estate also had their own nursery and in later years many of the plantations, land and nursery was purchased by the Forestry Commission.
The extensive list of plantation names was compiled for insurance purposes and details the name, the planting year, the acreage and value per acre. One list totals out at 448 Acres valued at £9129. The various sheets listing the areas are available in the PDF link below which also lists a letter from Edmonds & Ledingham, Advocates, Golden Square, Aberdeen advising of new insurance rate of 10/5 per cent (per £100?)
