This map image was part of a collection passed to Forestry Memories from a storage shed in Newton Nursery used by Forest Research

Large map hand drawn of the Glenmore Forest (known as Queen’s Forest for a time) and outlines some of the early compartmented areas from 1 up to 82. The total area is large but much is at elevations that make it difficult for tree growth but overall has very significant value for recreation and also high conservation significance especially as now part of Cairngorms Connect. Not easily read but a forest road can be noted running southwards with several twists and turns and is labelled 'Ski Road'.

The Forest Research areas are modest in size and located in two areas on either side of Loch Morlich from 1929 to 1953

The attached PDF contains close ups of the forest office/Glenmore lodge area and some of the compartments.
