Forest experiment area in Clashindarroch Forest circa 1975
This photograph was part of a collection passed to Forestry Memories from a storage shed in Newton Nursery used by Forest Research.
See the attached PDF link below which shows the comments on the reverse side of the photograph. The comments refer to the performance of Sitka spruce in Plot 5 and observation that the growth of the Sitka spruce is better next to a plot of Lodgepole pine. The people featured are referred to as JE and Mr Kennedy.
The Head Forester in Clashindarroch was Mr J M Kennedy but the timing rules him out and Bill Mason, Forest Research Roslin recalls a John N Kennedy who was Director Forest Management from the later 1970s and then Commissioner Forest and Estate Management from December 1979. The JE possibly refers to John Everard who was in the Northern Forest Research team in the 1970s. The photograph serial number B1819 is perhaps a bit out of the year sequence and other numbers close to it were taken in earlier years.
Any comments and confirmation would be welcome.
