The images of the Strathyre leaflet are courtesy of William Fleming, Polmont, who worked in the forest in the early 1960s. William photographed the leaflet some years ago and the images have now been re-compiled into a leaflet as seen in the PDF link below.

The individual pages show images of the newly build forestry houses, views of Loch Lubnaig and the mountains, workers in action felling first thinning larch and lining out in the nursery, the Braes of Balquhidder, the graves of Rob Roy and his sons and here in the front a boat ferrying forestry workers across Loch Lubnaig.

The text describes the geographic location of Strathyre Forest, the numbers of workers employed at the time (57 including 10 women); the provision of Forest Worker Holdings (12) and 12 houses (from prefabricated sections imported from Sweden); the early history of the area in some detail; some details of the forest area along with a map and the progress in the planting of the forest and the tree species used.

Any more details of Strathyre Forest and those who worked there would be very welcome. Does anyone have the other Scottish Forest and Forest Park leaflets as described on the final page?
