Bert Edwards – Foreman at Wauchope Forest Nursery
The image is courtesy of Mary Turnbull (nee Tinlin) and provided by her granddaughter Adele Gourlay who also wrote up a story of ‘Women Working in the Forestry Commission’ for the local Denholm Village Newsletter (See Forestry Memories Picture No5583). The details were collated from conversations with Mary Turnbull (nee Tinlin).
Bert is standing beside a lining out bed which appears to have been all dug and cut by spade – days prior to lining out plough.
Any more details of Bert, his work colleagues and Wauchope Forest Nursery would be very welcome.
Special thanks to Ian Laidlaw and Chris Ryde who first brought the article to the attention of Forestry Memories.
