Over the past five or six years, Bryce Reynard has taken great interest in using the birch tree as craft material. He gives details of uses for birch.

David Chadwick is organising the 2008 AGM, which will be held in Edinburgh on 20th May.
More on Ancient Trees
More recordings of Ancient trees have been added to the Woodland Trust’s national database. To date, more the 10,000 trees have been measured. More volunteer verifiers are needed.
Fred Hits the ‘Ton’………
Fred Beasley, who was a forestry student in the Dean School in 1929, reach the magic century on 5th November. Pete Ralph and Bart Venner drove to Oakhampton to pass on the good wishes from all attendees at the Dean Reunion at the Speech House on 13th October. Fred is insured to drive his car and still does.

Richard Illingworth who became the Principal Land Agent is now retired. He has some very amusing anecdotes amongst his memories.

Peter Webb remembers Richard (Dick) Grenfell, who died in Cornwall aged 83 years.
Alistair Rowan says John Drummond’s many friends will be saddened by his death last month in Dumfries. He recalls John’s many interests including fishing and cars.
