Glentress Re-Visited
John Keenleyside returns to his roots and writes about re-visiting Glentress in 1999. He attended the Forestry Training School there from 1951 to 1953.
Wartime Stories
John Jackson who was forester in charge of Glenbranter Forest near Dunoon from 1940-46, then took over Benmore Forest until 1970, sent in a wartime story which has a similar fishing theme to that of Bill Sutherland's in the last issue.
Civils Spot
FCRA News editor Richard Toleman gives details of two items of interest which are in the latest Forestry Civil Engineering Newsletter, Bailey Bridges and tram rail bridges. He also invites discussion on the bridges.
Who and Where Are They Now?
A photograph sent in by Mary Scott of Alford was taken in the Glentress FTS lecture room in the period 1946-9. Among the students are Mary’s late husband Malcolm Scott and also Tom Robbie, who was in charge of Glentress at the time.
The Tractor Remembered
After Graham Black’s article on his ex-FC Roadless Fordson Super Major tractor 701 FUW in the September of FCRA News, he received photographs of the tractor taken at Slindon near Arundel where it was being used to demonstrate a Ransome Slasher TG3007 and a Wilder Rainthorpe Heavy Duty Scrubmaster. He also spoke to Peter Windiate who drove the tractor a couple of years from new.

Graham Jeffrey Memorial Prize - And Cashel Forest
Readers will recall Graham Jeffrey's obituary in FCRA News this time last year. This year his widow, Sylvia, instigated the Graham Jeffrey Memorial Prize. Cashel Forest was also in the news this year for its very successful open day.
Scottish Plant Collectors' Garden
Scotland's newest garden at Pitlochry is well on the way to completion, with a proposed opening in summer 2002. It will celebrate 300 years of botanical exploration and is an important facet of Scottish heritage.
