Brian comments:
‘Large scale removal of non native species here in South Loch Morlich area. Forest Enterprise embarked on a major conservation project to restore and expand significant areas of native Pinewoods. Some 750 ha of the Forest Park had been designated as a Caledonian Forest Reserve. The first Reserve to be announced in Scotland. Non-natives trees were removed by FC harvesting team using whole tree working with extraction by skidder and processed at roadside. Eventually more conventional short wood systems were used in the forthcoming years.’
Note all the cleared areas leaving only the Scots pine.
