The image taken on Mull is a view looking across the sea towards the Morven peninsular and parts of Fiunary Forest.

The list details were sourced by Steven Newsom courtesy of National Records of Scotland. Most of the people were relocated to Lochaline in Morven, Argyllshire where the working age men were employed by the Forestry Commission in Fiunary Forest and some allocated Forestry Commission houses. Neil Ferguson Snr worked in Forestry Commission Tulliallan Nursery in Fife and Neil Ferguson Jnr may have worked in Strome Forest.

In later years (circa 1974) this writer recalls seeing a number of times Donald Gillies as a passenger in Donald Lawrie’s forestry lorry based at Lochaline.

Lachie MacDonald was a forest worker based in Glen Nevis and in the late 1960s and early 1970s was often called upon to give radio interviews about his St Kilda and forestry life.

Neil MacKinnon based at Glenrigh Forest, in a croft opposite the Corran Ferry, was a long term lorry driver for the Forestry Commission and in the 1960s and 70s was often called upon to transport the large forestry ploughs from one forest to another.

Any further details would be welcome.

Neil Mackinnon was a friend and colleague of my Father and Grandfather, who both worked for the FC.

Neil settled in Fortrose on the Black Isle, and passed away in November 1987. He is interred in Fortrose New Cemetry.
