Newly built Dorran Foresters houses at Torlundy – Leanachan Forest

Date Added: 19 October 2022 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1966 Picture No: 5485

The photograph courtesy of Stephen Newsom, Aberdour, was taken by his father Geoff Newsom while looking into a move to Leanachan Forest as Head Forester in summer 1966. The landscaping and garden fencing is in process of being completed. The view is towards the house first occupied by John Dunford who managed all the pulp dispatch to the Corpach Pulp Mill from the many Forestry Commission forests around the country.

The view in the PDF is of the house first occupied by Geoff Newsom and his family. Steve believes the three boys walking down the road could be but far from certain - from the left:

Peter Dunford – John Dunford’s son
? Tynne – a son of Mike Tynne Forest Worker living at Leanachan Holdings
Hamish Cameron – son of Tommy Cameron – I/C forestry workshop at Torlundy.
