Adam Cassie and child at Dorsincilly Cottage, Birkhall Estate
The image is courtesy of Bill McPherson, Cyprus, and shows Adam with possibly one of his sons Eddie or John. Date of photograph is not known but could be around 1927. Adam would have been a forestry worker on Birkhall Estate at the time.
Here Adam is sitting on some old logs that could be in the sawmill that was located near to the cottage but more likely old logs for wood fuel for the home fire.
The PDF below is of Chrissie the eldest child as an adult in 1939 and newly married.
The next image also taken at Dorsincilly Cottage but in 1948/49 is of Chrissie (McPherson) with her son Bill and daughter Kathleen next to Alistair son of Chrissie’s brother George. Adam by this time had moved to Countesswells Forest and his son George now occupied the house and also worked for the Forestry Commission.
Bill says ‘I recall watching uncle George fly-fishing in the Muick. He was an expert angler and I believe he gave lessons to HRH Queen Mother who was a regular visitor to the cottage.’
