Working on the transplant lines and beds in Ledmore Nursery
The images are courtesy of Michael Lawrence of Bankfoot whose grandfather, Sandy Rose, was Forester and Head Forester at Ledmore Forest Nursery from 1950 (when land was acquired) until his retirement in 1969.
This is the third of four small images with no details. It was initially thought to be some weeding operations or replanting some young trees uplifted by the weeding operations - however this appears not to be the case. It will be noted that the ground is very stony with some stones large enough to cause problems with mechanical operations. Part way up the alleyways can be seen piles of stones most likely hand lifted from the adjacent beds and being done so by the worker in front of the camera. In the back ground are two workers with a wheel barrow possibly collecting the piles of stones and barrowing them away from the beds.
Note the large label on the bed indicating that this is Scots pine and probably more details on seed identity as well as dates when lined out. Unusually this bed is lined out with six rows of transplants between the wheel alleyways whereas in most of the other images there are five rows only.
Any comments and names would be very welcome.
