Sandy Rose at Ledmore Nursery – Christmas tree time
The images are courtesy of Michael Lawrence of Bankfoot whose grandfather, Sandy Rose, was Forester and Head Forester at Ledmore Forest Nursery from 1950 (when land was acquired) until his retirement in 1969.
Another posed image for the camera and press photographer showing Sandy Rose in the thick of Christmas tree dispatch organisation. The year is estimated as at around 1960.
It seems that odd corners and areas of spare land were planted out with Christmas trees in the very early days of the nursery. These were being harvested at time of photograph when 5-7 years old.
