Cutting Christmas trees at Ledmore Forest Nursery
The images are courtesy of Michael Lawrence of Bankfoot whose grandfather, Sandy Rose, was Forester and Head Forester at Ledmore Forest Nursery from 1950 (when land was acquired) until his retirement in 1969.
This is a Perthshire Advertiser image but no year indicated but estimated as at around 1960. The hand written text on the back reads as follows:
“Cutting and loading of Christmas trees at Ledmore Nursery, Bankfoot.”
Fairly obvious set up situation for the camera as the men freeze action to ensure a motion free image. Mike has only been able to identify the man on the left as Stewart Paterson who is holding the long handled cutters.
Interesting to note that the trailer is one made or marketed by the Ferguson tractor company, The registration number MXU374 is that shown on the Ferguson 20 (Grey Fergie) in earlier images.
More names and comments are very welcome.
