Cutting Christmas trees at Ledmore Forest Nursery
The images are courtesy of Michael Lawrence of Bankfoot whose grandfather, Sandy Rose, was Forester and Head Forester at Ledmore Forest Nursery from 1950 (when land was acquired) until his retirement in 1969.
This is a Perthshire Advertiser image but no year indicated but estimated as at around 1960.
The hand written text on the back reads as follows:
“ ...... are busy just now packing off thousands of Christmas trees to retailers for distribution. Scene show digging up, cutting and loading in progress”
Some of the men are named by Mike Lawrence as follows:
‘Sandy Rose is nearest, with his back to the camera. He is obscuring the face of Stewart Paterson. And I can see Willie Menzies and Chalmers Thain Snr wearing bunnets in the mid picture.’
