Ploughing at Bennachie circa 1955
Photographs courtesy of Duncan Jamieson, Insch.
Duncan Jamieson operating a BTD 6 International tractor and forestry plough circa 1955 at Back o' Bennachie in Bennachie Forest. The outfit looks very new and has FC registration number 55-2528 which I believe would be the year 1955 and the 2528th item purchased or registered that year. Behind the tractor the outline of the Cuthbertson arch on the forestry plough can be clearly seen and in the centre of the arch the self levelling pole mechanism. This allowed the wheels to ride up and down over rough ground and boulders and yet allow the plough head to run at a reasonably uniform depth through the ground.
One of a series of Duncan's photographs - see others in sequence before and after this one.
