Timber Master Cable Crane – South Laggan Forest?
The image is from a photograph collection that was originally stored at Kincardine Forest District office at Durris and may have been taken by Sandy Sandilands.
The actual year and location in unknown. The back ground detail in one of the images has a similarity to that of South Laggan Forest looking onto the hills and forest showing on the west side (Balma Glaster) of Great Glen leading to Loch Lochy. Some buildings also seen which could be South Laggan crofts. Can anyone confirm?
Can any of the three winch and tractor team members be named? Seen here working on the very substantial locking carriage. See the PDF below for more images.
Any details on the origins of this locking carriage, its functions and how it operated would be very welcome.
