Scolty Woodland area – thinning operation
The image is from a photograph collection that was originally stored at Kincardine Forest District.
The year is uncertain but thought to be about 1995 and is one of a series of images of thinning and timber extraction in a conservation sensitive area. This chainsaw operator is chainsaw felling and snedding pine trees in the wood and also cross cutting at certain longer lengths ready for horse extraction which is show in the follow up images. The logger’s belt with logger’s tape and pouches for pulp hook and timber tongs are clearly visible.
The PDF has another two views of the felling and snedding.
Can the workers be identified?
The operator may be more easily recognised in the follow up images.
