West Coast of Scotland – Timber transport by sea event
The image is from a photograph collection that was originally stored at Kincardine Forest District.
The gathering of forestry people, managers, owners and contractors appears to be at an event to publicise and spread the word on the use of timber barges and docking facilities to transport timber from the more remote areas of Scotland’s west coast. This was also part of the drive to take heavy timber lorry transport off the more vulnerable and narrow routes in the localities. It is possible the loading point is in South Argyll perhaps on the west coast side not far from Loch Crinan but could well be on Loch Fyne. Can anyone name the location?
