Timberjack 1270 Harvesting Machine in Buchan Forest District

Date Added: 28 October 2021 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1995 Picture No: 5207

The image is from a photograph collection that was originally stored at Kincardine Forest District.

This could well be the trial in Clashindarroch Forest of the first 1270 that was eventually procured for thinning operations at Buchan Forest District. This was a replacement for the Atlas/Pika combination that was experiencing a series of mechanical issues and falling behind on programmes. The first operators were Mike Bremner and Tom Dow.
