Construction of Slug Road car park above Durris

The roads team are adding quarry gravel and rock to the prepared based of the car park area.
Colin Smith, Huntly, recalls:
“I remember this tipper well as I drove it when working in Moray and Aberdeenshire. The tipper used to work in Moray and Aberdeenshire on occasions but actually came up from the Perth squad based at Dunkeld.
The picture obviously must have been taken before 1998 as this is when the rear differential broke in Cairds Wood near Keith and after that the lorry was put up for sale.
At that time the Atlas wheel excavator would have been operated by Ian Geary. The person standing in the picture looks like tipper driver Duncan Mackenzie”.
The Leyland Tipper lorry registration G222 GSX may have just tipped the load of quarry gravel, the driver standing talking to the excavator driver
