The Forestry Commission in house magazine, The Slasher, in summer 1981 carried the above articles relating to people in some Scottish forest locations.

On the left two members of staff from Bemore Forest near Dunoon are mentioned - John McIntyre, Glenfinart who retired with 50 years’ service and Alex McCluskey, Joiner and Handyman at Benmore who completed 31 years service. Forestry students who attended Benmore Forester Training School would have known Alex McCluskey’s wife as she worked in the school kitchens for many years and their son Joe may have been employed by Edinburgh Botanic Gardens as one of the Benmore Garden team.

On the right a mention of John Wilson a former keeper in Knapdale Forest who joined the Forestry Commission in 1931 when they purchased the estate that he worked on as a gamekeeper.
