View from Stroan House – Former Glentrool Forester’s House near Loch Trool
The images are courtesy of Barbara Lee, now living in Cornwall, who with her husband purchased and stayed in the house in the early 1980s. Hamish Park (Forester at Glentool) and his family moved to Stroan in 1963 when the house was purchased by the Forestry Commission. The house was previously the property of the Earl of Galloway and used by a succession of farming tenants.
The photograph was taken from the front of Stroan House looking towards Loch Trool and judged, by the size of the trees, to have been taken about 1959/60. The mounted photograph is signed ‘J Puttich’ who may be the original photographer. The photograph was given to Barbara Lee by her neighbour Dr. Margaret McMillan.
Any further information on the photographer would be welcome.
