‘Jinks’ Ploughing at Rannoch Forest
The image is from a collection of slides and photographs ‘rescued from the skip’ and handed to Forestry Memories. Generally very little information with or about them and for details we will have to rely on readers’ memories or geographical knowledge.
Jimmy Sangster ploughing in Rannoch Forest circa 1980. The name plate with his byname JINKS is hard to miss! Jimmy is ploughing with what appears to be a Bowen conversion International Tractor. The plough is difficult to see but may well be a double furrow tine or an early form of a double furrow peat plough D60. The furrows are not sitting very well and rolling over which may indicate the latter.
The photographic slide has the initials AW written on and may have been taken by forester Sandy Watson.
The PDF shows the tractor side on and Jimmy in the operator’s seat. The plough furrow in the distance behind looks too narrow for double furrow tine D45/t60 and may well be a D60.
