Compression funnel for packing Christmas trees
The image is from a collection of slides and photographs ‘rescued from the skip’ and handed to Forestry Memories. Generally very little information with or about them and for details we will have to rely on readers’ memories or geographical knowledge.
This location is the Christmas Tree selling site at Tyrebagger near Aberdeen, the site of Kirkhill Forest Office. This image and the following ones in the PDF seem to indicate that this may be a local invention or adaption for compressing Christmas trees into plastic tubing for easy transportation in customer’s cars. The plastic tube clamping mechanism looks locally made.
Does anyone know the name of the forestry worker and if he had anything to do with the design of this system? Any names of other workers featured would be welcome.
