Forestry Commission owned Highlander Forwarder in action
The image is from a collection of slides and photographs ‘rescued from the skip’ and handed to Forestry Memories. Generally very little information with or about them and for details we will have to rely on readers’ memories or geographical knowledge.
Impossible to see the operator but the condition of the Scots pine crop and ground surface would lead one to believe that this could easily be some of the areas in Glenmore or Inschriach Forest. The registration of the machine is partially hidden but **M415M is visible.
This machine would be one of the James Jones production models of the Highland Bear crane and Fordson tractor to form the Highlander Forwarder.
The PDF shows a rear view of the Forwarder and it can be seen that this machine is a skidder as well with Igland double drum winch fitted.
Any comments and information very welcome.
