Cable Crane skyline extraction of pole length timber
The image is from a collection of slides and photographs ‘rescued from the skip’ and handed to Forestry Memories. Generally very little information with or about them and for details we will have to rely on readers’ memories or geographical knowledge.
The red coloured safety hat and the radio loudspeaker point to this being a Forestry Commission operation. The cable crane may well be a Chapelhall Engineering Workshop production of a British Leyland Tractor married to an Igland double drum winch. Can anyone confirm? Can the operator be identified?
Any information and comments very welcome.
