Ploughing with Caterpillar Tractors and Cuthbertson ploughs - where and when?

Ploughing with Caterpillar Tractors and Cuthbertson ploughs - where and when?

Date Added: 12 February 2021 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1960 Picture No: 5045

The image is from a collection of slides and photographs ‘rescued from the skip’ and handed to Forestry Memories. Generally very little information with or about them and for details we will have to rely on readers’ memories or geographical knowledge.

Any information on this one would be very welcome. It looks like two Caterpillar tractors pulling steel wheeled round arch Cuthbertson ploughs with single furrow peat plough heads. Not really the type of plough head for this gravel and stone soil but doing a reasonable job in the circumstances. Wonder who the drivers were? Tractor models?

Is this Loch Tummel, Tay or Rannoch in valley below? Wondered if this was in part of Rannoch Forest above Dall House?

Any comments and observations would be very welcome.
