Retirement of Janet Clark from Speyside Forest District Office
The photograph is courtesy of Myra Younie who maintained a collection of Forestry Commission event and retirement photographs when she worked in the forestry offices in Morayshire.
This image from a newspaper cutting it shown on Forestry Memories No 965 but here the individuals are more easily recognised.
Janet worked much of her Forestry Commission life from around 1950 as a forest clerk in the old style district office at Fochabers which is now the site for the Health Centre. With the formation of the new style Forest Districts circa 1984 the office for what became Speyside Forest District moved to Balnacoul in the village of Mosstodloch. Janet also worked in her earlier days in some local forest offices acting as relief clerk during holiday periods. Moray Forest District was managed from the offices at Newton Nursery until amalgamation with Speyside Forest District in 1988 when the management unit for the combined unit, Moray Forest District, centred on Balnacoul Office.
