The image is courtesy of David Leslie of James Jones and has been lying in the in-tray since he passed the image to here in 2013!

A great historical image of the work shop team outside the buildings with two of their products that they have just finished fitting out.

Behind the men is a Foden Lorry (Registration OWG17M) with installed Highland Bear crane and timber trailer. In front is a Highland Bear forwarder complete with log rolling blade, loading crane and trailer. The registration number is partially hidden but starts with OWG8?N.

Can the workshop team be named?

More details of the work shop and information on the period it produced forestry machines would be very welcome.

If I remember correct Airlie Jones himself would take photos of the timber harvesting machinery in the 1970s. I remember him making a visit to Panmure Estate see the new forwarder working on first thinning's his last words to me were you will get faster given time. Back in the day forwarders like this were a force to be reckoned with. Comment left on 14 December 2020 at 10:10 by leslie phillip
