Auld’s Sawmill Team set up in Glentaucher, Morayshire

The names of most of the men are not known but Albert Philpott is third standing from left (No 3) and the manger/sawmiller Mr McPherson No 5 with his son kneeling in front No 8.
About 1946 Albert and family left Scotland and worked for the Duchy of Lancaster at their estate sawmill at Six Road Ends near Draycott in the Clay. Amanda says ‘My grandad was given the position so he could show the Workers at the sawmill how it was done’.
This looks to be quite a large building with an unusual higher section behind the group. This may have been the finishing end with an additional saw for pointing the posts and also housing the steam engine. Any thoughts?
Good to see the horses and their handlers featured.
More names and details would be very welcome.
