Retirement of ganger Agnes (Aggie) Campbell from Newton Nursery
The photograph is courtesy of Myra Younie who maintained a collection of Forestry Commission event and retirement photographs when she worked in the forestry offices in Morayshire. Note that LOM refers to Laigh of Moray forest Unit which included Culbin, Monaughty, Roseisle as well as Newton forestry areas.
One of two images of Aggie’s retirement occasion from Newton Nursery after over 30 years of working for the Forestry Commission. Aggie was one of the very few lady gangers at this period in the Forestry Commission and her departure was noted by a very senior person from the organisation no less than George Holmes the Director General. Indeed a very fitting tribute
The people in the photograph from the left are:
1. Myra Younie – Admin officer LOM
2. Struan Stewart – Chief Forester LOM
3. Lesley Hutcheson – Admin Officer LOM
4. Agnes Campbell – Retiring Ganger Newton Nursery
5. George Holmes – Director General Forestry Commission
