Retirement of Chief Forester Jackie R A Frater
The photograph is courtesy of Myra Younie who maintained a collection of Forestry Commission event and retirement photographs when she worked in the forestry offices in Morayshire. Note that LOM refers to Laigh of Moray forest Unit which included Culbin, Monaughty, Roseisle as well as Newton forestry areas.
After over 40 years of service in the Forestry Commission and several posting around the country Jackie Frater is retiring from the Commission. Surrounded by colleagues, friends and family he is wished well by George Taylor, Assistant Conservator, East Conservancy, Scotland.

Jackie Frater was also a forester down in Inschriach.
A story of a conversation in Laigh of Moray forest office
(Within earshot of most of the staff) following an occasion when a French student had written in asking for work. Jack could not find the correspondence and came into Sandy Mac’s office saying “Sandy, Sandy, have you see that French letter anywhere?”!!
