Winter in Glengarry near Calvine, Perthshire
The photos are courtesy of Geordie Davidson via Tom McLellan, Taynuilt.
Really atmospheric image of a cold Perthshire winter morning with Geordie’s D6 and mounder plough pulling a slipe (sledge) filled with oil and fuel for the tractor. The year is not certain but has been put in as 1997.
The view is up towards Dalnamein Lodge and looks over the modern dual A9, the railway line to Inverness and in between the River Garry and the old A9 running next to the river. This native woodland site is on the south side of the railway line and fairly remote with access off the old A9 close to Clunes Lodge, across a ford and under a narrow rail bridge. Not really anywhere that you would wish to have a problem.
Looking from the present A9, the woodland has certainly established as designed on all the drier knolls with a mix of native species at irregular spacing.
