A view of Sawmill Unit No 3 from the wood behind and looking across the fields of Hilton (Balnachirck), the River Carron and to the hills on the far side the nearest one thought to be Cnoc Crion-bhaid. Again there is a substantial sawdust heap and down in the field can be seen some stacked cut timer awaiting shipment to the rail station. The loading ramp to the mill bench has only two or three small logs on it.
The images in the PDF below show the buildings and mill looking up from the stick or wood yard which was located in the field next to the public road. The final image is of the ‘cook house’ where the men were served their meals and was also probably a social venue. Note the wooden v shaped drain taking the sink water away from under the building. The walls appear to have been clad with some type of felt or wind and water resistant material to make the interior more comfortable.
