Glenlivet Forest in winter 1963

Jim (Not Jim mut Jock Munro - see comments) and Ian McLaughlin in front of lorry fitted with Hiab loader during the hard winter of 1963.
Special thanks to Keith Gough (Ganger) who worked at Glenlivet from 1958 – 1983 as he was able to name the staff.
Perhaps someone could name the type and model of the lorry?

I think the Lorry is a Bedford 'O' Series. 5 ton payload rating. Produced between 1945 and 1953.

His son John Munro, suggests that the chap on the left may be his father, John (Jock) Munro, rather than his uncle, Jim.

Definitely a Bedford 'O' Series and most probably Long Wheel Base. Six Cylinder Petrol Engine. The FC Road Squad had many Bedford Tippers back in the 50's, certainly in North Scotland. I first drove one of them (on forestry roads of course !) in 1955 when I was 12 years old ! I can remember my father threatening to sack any/all of the road squad if he ever again found me driving any of the plant & equipment. Empty threat of course as it never stopped me ! Having conquered driving tippers my next challenge was to operate Geordie MacLean's BTD 20 Bull Dozer. Achieved this before I was much older !

That is my father on the left Jock Munro of Morinsh. He was the driver of the lorry. It was a Bedford flatbed with a turntable on the back and a long poled trailer or junker for long timber. I used to drive it when I was a 12 year old and my older sister Mona used to drive it when she was 15.
