Cross draining at Aultmore Forest, Moray

Cross draining the ploughed hill at Aultmore Forest, Adie Hill, with the normal single furrow Cuthberson plough head. In order to cut below the depth of plough furrows the plough in its cross draining mode would have to be trimmed to some of its deepest settings. The operator is almost certainly Jimmy Sangster or Dick Warrior on what looks like a Track Marshall tractor.
The outfit looks as though it has come to a ride and stopped the drain. The operator’s face is unfortunately hidden but he is talking to Jack Christie, Head Forester, Aultmore Forest. The pulleys for the old wire and winch lifting system can still be seen on this plough but it has long since been converted to hydraulic lifting from the tractor. The wire cables seen on this machine are for debogging the tractor and plough when it got into difficulties.
