Tree plant lining out machine at Tulliallan Nursery
The photographs are courtesy of Will Anderson, Seafield and Strathspey Estates. Will worked for a period with the Forestry Commission in Tulliallan Nursery and surrounding forests.
The lining out machine paused in the act of lining out young trees. This view highlights the three sets of flexible discs that are angled so that they press together as they rotate to below ground level. The operators insert the young trees head first into the open slot between the discs. They are carried down to the ploughed furrow and roots now rotated downwards are firmed by the wheel packers under the seat.
Will has taken several shots and they are included in the attached PDF below. One shot shows the two sets of three planting line stations where 6 people sit, three in front and three at the back. The last shot is of a spare flexible disc and packer assembly for the machine.
Cab anyone confirm the make and model of this machine? Accord?
